Maha Kumbh 2025: Devotees Take Holy Dip On Day 3, Over 5 Crore Participate In First Two Days
The Maha Kumbh 2025, the world's largest spiritual gathering, is witnessing an unparalleled influx of devotees on its third day as devotees continue to take holy dip on the third day (Wednesday).
Beginning on January 13, the occasion of Paush Purnima, the event has already drawn over 5 crore pilgrims in the first two days, with an additional 3.5 crore devotees partaking in the first Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, a sacred day dedicated to the Sun God.

The convergence of faith unfolded at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers meet. Pilgrims braved the chill of January to immerse themselves in the holy waters, a ritual believed to purify the soul and bring divine blessings. The Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, symbolizing the Sun's northward transition, is a central highlight of the 45-day-long festival.
A Spiritual Tapestry of Faith
The banks of the Sangam transformed into a vibrant mosaic of devotion and culture. Devotees offered Arghya (water oblations) to the Sun, performed rituals, and made offerings of sesame seeds, khichdi, and other sacred items. Many participated in the Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing display of light and devotion, while others engaged in acts of charity, deepening the festival's spiritual essence.
From dawn to dusk, chants of "Har Har Mahadev" and "Jai Shri Ram" resonated, creating an atmosphere of divine energy. The processions of Naga Sadhus and saints, especially those from the Panchayati Akhada Mahanirvani, were a sight to behold. Clad in ash and carrying traditional weapons, they marched with grandeur, their arrival accompanied by devotional hymns and the beating of drums.
Meticulous Planning Ensures Safety
The administration's detailed preparations played a pivotal role in ensuring the event's success. Barricades, thorough security checks, and the presence of police and volunteers contributed to smooth crowd management. The sprawling Maha Kumbh Nagar was equipped with essential amenities, ensuring a safe and fulfilling experience for all.
A Living Testament to Indian Heritage
Maha Kumbh is more than a festival; it is a manifestation of India's deep-rooted spirituality and cultural legacy. For millions, the holy dip at the Sangam during the Amrit Snan is a path to moksha (salvation) and a reaffirmation of faith.
As the festival continues, it promises to unite devotees in an unparalleled celebration of tradition, devotion, and the enduring spirit of humanity.
