In both incidents, families of the deceased women have accused their husbands and in-laws of abuse, torture and murder linked to dowry demands.
While police investigations are underway in both cases, the incidents have once again highlighted growing concerns over domestic violence, dowry harassment and delayed justice.
1st Case: Greater Noida Woman Dies After Falling From Rooftop
A disturbing case surfaced from Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district, where a 24-year-old woman allegedly died after falling from the roof of her marital home.
The deceased has been identified as Deepika Nagar, who had married Hrithik, a resident of Jalpura village, around one-and-a-half years ago.
According to police, the incident took place under the Ecotech-3 police station area in Jalpura village.
Deepika's family has accused her husband and in-laws of mentally and physically harassing her for dowry. Her father, Sanjay, alleged that despite spending nearly Rs 1 crore on the wedding, the family continued demanding a Toyota Fortuner SUV and Rs 50 lakh in cash.
Family Claims Deepika Was Murdered
According to the complaint filed by her father, Deepika called him on May 17 and informed him that she was being assaulted and pressured to bring money and a vehicle from her parental home.
Sanjay said he visited the house later that evening to speak with the family. However, later that night, he received a call saying Deepika had fallen from the terrace and was being taken to the hospital.
"When we reached the hospital, my daughter had already died," he alleged.
The family further claimed there were injury marks on her body and accused the in-laws of killing her before throwing her from the third floor.
Police have registered a case against Deepika's husband Hrithik, father-in-law Manoj, mother-in-law Poonam, sisters-in-law Neha and Tanvi, along with relatives Pramod and Vinod.
The husband and father-in-law have been arrested, while further investigation is continuing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shailendra Kumar Singh said legal procedures, including post-mortem examination and evidence collection, are currently underway.
2nd Case: Bhopal Case Sparks Protest Outside CM Residence
In another shocking case, family members of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma staged a protest outside the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal demanding justice and a fresh post-mortem examination.
Twisha, who belonged to Noida, was found dead at her marital home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal earlier this week.
"The entire system is pitted against us. Attempt being made to cover up," say the parents of Twisha Sharma, who died at her in-laws’ home in Bhopal.

According to police, she met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025.
Her family has accused her husband Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh, a retired judge, of murder and dowry harassment.

Family Demands Second Post-Mortem At AIIMS Delhi
Twisha's relatives protested outside the Chief Minister's official residence demanding that her body be sent to AIIMS Delhi for a second post-mortem examination.
The first post mortem report says:
- Multiple ante-mortem injuries (injuries sustained before death) on different parts of her body.
- A medical termination of pregnancy that had allegedly taken place about a week before her death
The family claimed that her body had remained at the mortuary of AIIMS Bhopal for five days.

Her father Navnidhi Sharma and brother later said officials from the Chief Minister's Office assured them that fair action would be taken.
The family has also demanded that the legal proceedings in the case be transferred outside Madhya Pradesh.
According to relatives, Twisha had wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida. They also claimed she remained in contact with them until around 10 pm on May 12, shortly before her death.

Last Chat With Her Mother: 'Take Me From Here Maa...'
"Mujhe bahut zyada ghutan ho rahi hai maa" ("I feel terribly suffocated, Mother"). These heartbreaking words were among the final messages sent by 33-year-old Twisha Sharma to her mother days before she was found dead at her husband's house in Bhopal.
"Kyu Bheja Mujhe Yaha": Twisha's Painful Messages To Her Mother
According to WhatsApp chats accessed by media reports, Twisha repeatedly told her mother that she felt trapped and emotionally broken inside the marriage.

On April 30, she reportedly sent a message saying:
"Kyu bheja mujhe yaha. Ye yaha baat hi nahi kar raha hai" ("Why did you send me here? He is not even talking to me.")
She further added:
"Bhopal bula kar phir se sab natak" ("He called me to Bhopal only to repeat the same drama again.")
In another emotional message, she wrote:
"Mera jeevan narak ho gaya hai mummy" ("My life has become a living hell, Mom.")
The messages suggested that tensions between the couple had been continuing for some time.
"Maa Aap Mujhe Yaha Se Lene Aajao"
On May 7, Twisha allegedly pleaded with her mother to take her back home.
"Maa aap mujhe yaha se lene aajao kal please" ("Mom, please come and take me away from here tomorrow.")
She reportedly told her mother that it appeared as though her husband no longer wanted her and had only been "tolerating" her for the past year.
Twisha also sounded confused about what she had done wrong and reportedly asked her mother to come alone.
The chats suggest that she felt unsupported, mentally exhausted and emotionally abandoned.
"Main Pagal Ho Jaungi"
One of the most disturbing parts of the chats involved allegations related to pregnancy and abortion. According to reports, Twisha alleged that she was accused of carrying an illegitimate child and was pressured into undergoing an abortion.
In one emotional message to her mother, she wrote:
"Mujhe pooch raha hai vo kiska bacha tha, aur main ignore karu??? Kaisi aurat ho aap. Ye apne ghatiya pane ki har limit cross kar ke baitha hai. Kaise reh lu iske saath"
("He is asking me whose child it was, and you expect me to ignore it? What kind of woman are you? He has crossed every limit of cheapness. How am I supposed to live with him?")
Twisha also accused her husband of pretending to behave well in front of his mother while speaking cruelly to her privately.
In another message, she said:
"Mummy yaha par mai bas pagal ho jaungi. Mujhse nahi ho pa raha ab ye sab"
("Mom, I am going to lose my mind here. I cannot handle all this anymore.")
"Papa Se Naak Ragadva Kar Maafi Maangvana Chahta Hai"
Twisha also alleged that her husband wanted her father to publicly apologise in a humiliating manner.
"Papa se naak ragadva kar maafi maangvana chahta hai" ("He wants father to rub his nose on the ground and beg for forgiveness.")
Her mother reportedly offered to travel to Bhopal and apologise to her husband personally, but Twisha rejected the idea.
Twisha further told her mother not to destroy her own life for "personal entertainment," though the exact context behind the remark remains unclear.
"Neech Baatein Karta Hai Ye Aadmi"
Twisha repeatedly described her husband and mother-in-law as emotionally cruel.
"Neech baatein karta hai ye aadmi"
("This man speaks filth.")
Her mother suggested that if Samarth did not want to continue the relationship, Twisha could leave peacefully.
"Mere saath nahi rehna chahta to main nahi rahugi. Lekin mujhe ganda nahi sunaye"
("If he does not want to live with me, I won't stay. But he should not insult me.")
"Main Bahut Buri Tarah Phas Gayi Hu"
On the day before her death, Twisha again told her mother that she felt trapped and emotionally suffocated.
"Mujhe bhaut zaada ghutan ho rahi hai maa"
("I feel terribly suffocated, Mother.")
She further wrote:
"Na rone denge ye log na hasne ki vajah denge. Main to bhaut buri tarah phas gayi hu"
("These people won't let me cry, nor will they give me any reason to smile. I am badly trapped.")
Twisha also said she no longer felt like speaking to anyone.
When her mother advised her to try speaking calmly with her husband and mother-in-law, Twisha replied:
"Baat karega normal toh mai bhi karugi he na. Mujhe koi acha thodi lag raha hai yaha"
("If he talks normally, then I will too. It's not like I am happy here.")
SIT Formed To Investigate Allegations
Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault and destruction of evidence.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap, who is leading the SIT investigation, said a case had been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions related to dowry death and harassment.
Officials said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest Samarth Singh.
A local court granted anticipatory bail to retired judge Giribala Singh on Friday, while the hearing on Samarth Singh's anticipatory bail plea is scheduled for May 18.
Rising Concern Over Dowry-Linked Violence
The two incidents have once again brought national attention to dowry-related violence and abuse faced by women after marriage.
Women's rights activists have repeatedly called for stronger implementation of anti-dowry laws, faster police intervention and better protection systems for women facing domestic violence.
Legal experts say many families hesitate to formally report abuse until situations become extreme, often because of social pressure and fear of family breakdown.
Debate Over Justice And Investigation
The allegations in both cases have sparked strong reactions online, with many demanding strict action against those accused and faster judicial processes in dowry-related crimes.
The role of post-mortem reports, forensic evidence and police investigations is expected to become crucial in determining the exact circumstances surrounding both deaths.
As investigations continue, the cases have intensified public debate around women's safety, domestic abuse and accountability in alleged dowry death incidents across the country.
