According to reports, the sessions court had in April this year discharged these men of all terror charges after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) submitted that the blasts were the handiwork of a Hindu extremist group.

The Maharshtra government has reportedly termed the order as "illegal and unjust".

The case pertains to serial bomb blasts outside a cemetery near Hamidia mosque at Malegaon, near Nashik, on 8 September 2006, which left 37 people dead and over 100 injured.
