Magisterial Probe Initiated into Murder of Panjab University Student Aditya Thakur During Concert
A detailed investigation has been initiated following the murder of a student at Panjab University during a concert, officials reported. The police in Chandigarh have detained four individuals suspected of being involved in the killing of 22-year-old Aditya Thakur. This tragic event took place on March 28 during a performance by Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma.

The district magistrate-cum-deputy commissioner of Chandigarh has mandated a thorough inquiry into this incident. According to an order dated March 30, the sub-divisional magistrate central will lead the investigation into Aditya Thakur's death at the concert held at Panjab University's South Campus, Sector 25. The inquiry officer is tasked with examining the entire sequence of events that led to Thakur's death and must submit findings within two weeks.
Concert Security and Safety Measures
The investigation will scrutinise how the stabbing occurred and identify any security shortcomings by those responsible for organising the event. Recommendations will be made to establish a standard operating procedure for future events on campus to prevent similar incidents. The inquiry officer can involve university personnel and other relevant stakeholders in this process.
Aditya Thakur was a second-year computer science engineering student at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology. After being injured, he was transported to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he later died from his injuries, as officials previously confirmed.
The inquiry aims to ensure that such tragic events do not recur by addressing security lapses and improving safety protocols for university events.
