Madurai walks for a healthy heart on World Heart Day

A series of rallies and awareness campaigns were organised to mark this day. Meenakshi Mission hospital organised a walkathon on Saturday from the Walker's club in KK Nagar to the Wakf Borad College.
Dr R Sivakumar and N Ganesan, senior consultants from the Meenakshi Mission hospital, Department of Cardiology said that over 17 million people in the world die due to herat ailments every year.
Alongwith Meenakshi Mission hospital, Devadoss Multispecialty Hospital too conducted an awareness rally. Joining them was Apollo Specialty Hospitals that organised a walkthaon from Race Course to Tallakulam.
There were more than 600 people who participated in the rally themed 'Take the road to a healthy heart.'
The doctors at the event said that walking half an hour everyday would reduce the risk of heart ailments in people above 35 years of age.
