Madras HC bench to introduce SMS to inform status of petitions

Madurai, Mar 9: The

Bench is to introduce Short Messaging Service (

) to inform status of petitions in the court to

and litigants appearing in person.

Officials said the decision to introduce the service in the court here is considering the successful introduction of it at Madras High Court in Chennai from January 23.

To avail the service, advocates must provide their mobile phone numbers at the time of filing cases.

Initially they would receive information about the provisional serial numbers allotted to their case, date of filing, date of numbering and name of the counsel, the sources said.
