MP: Teenage girl cuts off her tongue to appease god

Rewa, July 28: In an extreme act of devotion, a teenage girl cut off her tongue as an offering to appease god in Madhya Pradesh, media reported on Thursday.

According to report, the incident took place at a kali temple in Rewa. Though it is unclear what prompted the girl to commit the act.

The girl lost consciousness after cutting off her tongue, but instead of taking her to the hospital devotees kept themselves busy in performing bhajans.

In the past as well, similar incidents had taken place at various temples in the state where superstitious practice are common among various community.
