Madhya Pradesh Hikes DA for Govt Employees Ahead Of Diwali
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a 4 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees ahead of Diwali. Effective from January 1, 2024, this adjustment raises the DA from the current 46% to 50%.
Starting from January 1, 2024, all government employees will receive DA at the updated rate of 50%.

The government has also confirmed that the arrears from this hike will be distributed within the current financial year, spread evenly over four instalments.
Other states, including Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, have also announced DA hikes. The UP government has raised DA for its employees by 3%, effective from July 1, 2024.
Similarly, the Arunachal Pradesh government has approved a 3% rise in both DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for regular employees and pensioners, also effective from July 1, 2024.
Just 10 days ago, on October 18, the central government announced a 3% DA increase for central government employees, along with a matching increase in DR for pensioners.
This change, effective from July 1, 2024, was confirmed during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The DA rate will now increase from 50% to 53% of the basic pay, offering a financial uplift to government staff and retirees.
