Madan Mitra's neighbour, a popular astrologer, had predicted his arrest in 1994!

Kolkata, Dec 13: A popular astrologer based in Kolkata had predicted the arrest of West Bengal Transport minister Madan Mitra, says a TOI report !

The astrologer, Chandan Bhattacharya, is Madan Mitra's neighbour in Dhirendra Nath Ghosh Lane at Bhowanipore, where the minister has been living since his childhood.

The prediction was made 20 years ago, says the report. The duo knew each other and as per the report, Madan, who believed in astrology, would ask Chandan to read his palm. An extremely ambitious p[olitician, madan would ask Chandan if he would ever become an MLA and Chandan would warn him about imprisonment between age 58 and 60 !

Madan will go through a very tough time for at least a year and a half, the astrologer says.

The local youth in the area are Madan's ardent supporters.

An MLA from Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal in 2009, Madan was arrested on Friday in connection with Saradha scam.

It is alleged that Mitra granted favour to Saradha chief Sudipta Sen in lieu of money and continued to maintain a good relation with the latter. Mitra's former aide Bapi Karim accused him of receiving monetary favours from Sen at various points of time. Though Mitra claimed that he had no links with Saradha, but television footages released recently showed him praising Sen at a public function.
