Chennai, Oct 9: 12 days after ex-CM of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha was put behind bars, DMK chief M Karunanidhi broke his silence for the first time. Speaking to the district secretaries who assembled at the DMK headquarters to supervise the law and order situation, Karunanidhi said,"Jayalalithaa's comeback to power can only be a dream. It would never be fulfilled. She got trapped herself in the net. Jayalalithaa created a situation as if there's none to question her. Today Jayalalithaa reads her own fall as a lesson. Unknowingly, Jayalalithaa helped us in lifting the Dravidian movement."

On September 27, Jayalalitha became the first sitting chief minister of a state to be sent behind bars. A special court in Bangalore found her guilty in the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.

Karunanidhi is said to have avoided any comments on the case and is reported to have cited newspaper reports and focussed on law and order issues in the state. It is believed that he stayed out of the case as daughter M K Kanimozhi and two other DMK leaders A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran too are facing corruption charges.
