The Smart City Mission will see the completion of major projects, including an Integrated Command and Control Centre, indoor swimming pool, LED streetlights, and improved water and waste management systems.
In a significant move aimed at transforming the industrial city of Ludhiana, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled an ambitious plan to complete pending development projects and initiate new ones. During a high-level meeting held on Friday, Mann emphasized the state government's commitment to fostering the overall growth of Ludhiana.
Revitalizing Ludhiana's Green Spaces
Recognizing the importance of green spaces for the city's well-being, the government has conceptualized 46 plantation projects at a total cost of Rs 28.91 crore. These projects aim to provide "green lungs" to Ludhiana, enhancing its environmental sustainability. Notably, 19 of these projects, amounting to Rs 14.18 crore, have already been successfully completed, while the remaining works are set to be accomplished in the near future.
Smart City Mission Transforming Ludhiana
Under the Smart City Mission, Ludhiana has witnessed the commencement of 72 projects worth Rs 930.00 crore. Of these, projects valued at Rs 219.00 crore have been diligently completed, while work on the remaining projects worth Rs 549.10 crore is progressing steadily. These projects encompass crucial infrastructure developments, including the Integrated Command and Control Centre, an all-weather indoor swimming pool, LED streetlights, surface water supply enhancements, and efficient solid waste management systems. These initiatives are poised to significantly enhance the city's infrastructure and quality of life.
Addressing Long-Pending Infrastructure Needs
In a move that will provide much-needed relief to Ludhiana residents, Chief Minister Mann announced the commencement of re-carpeting work on a 16-kilometer stretch of Rahon Road, extending from Khawajke village to Mattewara. This project, which has been pending for 15 years, will finally be undertaken in the coming days, with tenders already allotted. Additionally, the government plans to install 1,500 streetlights and CCTV cameras in each assembly constituency of Ludhiana, bolstering public safety and security.
Conclusion
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's comprehensive development plan for Ludhiana represents a significant step towards revitalizing the city's infrastructure, enhancing its green spaces, and addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges. These initiatives are set to transform Ludhiana into a modern, sustainable, and thriving industrial hub, benefiting its residents and contributing to the overall progress of Punjab.
