Lucknow shocker: 3 guards shot dead outside ATM, Rs 50 lakh looted

Lucknow, Feb 28: In a daring daylight heist in Lucknow on Friday, two-masked men shot dead three guards and escaped with a cash box containing Rs 50 lakh.

The incident took place in busy Babuganj area near Lucknow University on Friday afternoon.

According to media reports, the ATM guard told the police that the entire operation took less than a minute. "The guards of the private security agency which brought the cash had asked me to stay at a distance from the ATM. Two of them entered the ATM while one stood outside near the security company's van," he was quoted as saying in DNA report.

"He said two men arrived on a bike and straightaway headed into the ATM. They shot both the guards inside at point blank range and took the cash box. As they came outside, the guard at the van tried to block their way. They shot him too," he was quoted as saying in report.

Those killed in the heist are Amit Kumar Singh, Avinash Shukla and Arun Kumar Singh.
