Lucknow Metro develops technical glitch on Day 1 of public run

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday flagged off Lucknow Metro. But on the first day, the 8.5 km stretch 'Priority Corridor' developed some major fault which resulted in 20 minutes delay.

22.8-km-long North-South Corridor
The North-South Corridor will have 21 stations, including eight elevated ones. There is also an East-West corridor coming up, from Charbagh Railway station till Vasant Kunj, covering 11 km, including 6.3 km underground.

Cost of Phase-1 :
The estimated cost of Phase-1A is ₹6,928 crore, a joint venture of the State and Central governments.

Technical glitch on Day 1:
The commuters were stuck inside the metro for around 20 minutes on its first public run. They started panicking since the light and AC went off.

Priority Corridor
The 8.5-km 'Priority Corridor' from Transport Nagar to Charbagh, which is part of the Phase-1 of the project, will be operational for the public from 6 am to 10 pm every day. The stations that come under the Priority Corridor are; Transport Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Singar Nagar, Alambagh, Alambagh Bus Station, Mawaiya, Durgapuri and Charbagh.

How many passengers?
The trains can seat 186 passengers in the longitudinal configuration and there are two dedicated zones for differently-abled passengers. Each four-car Metro train has been designed to carry about 1,100 passengers at a time.
