Lucknow encounter ends, suspected IS militant killed

The suspect is said to be armed with an AK-47 rifle

One terror suspect has been killed in the encounter that took place near Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. Saifullah who refused to surrender was killed after the long and bloody encounter. The police say that he is a suspect in the Madhya Pradesh train blast and also a member of the Islamic State.

Earlier the police stopped firing and asked Saifulla to surrender. He however had indicated that he wants to attain Shahdat. Chilli bombs were used, but the suspect refused to come out and continued to fire intermittently.

His movement was tracked after a call of his was intercepted. He is alleged to have made a call to another member in South India. This call is said have been made after the explosion on the train. The MP police have termed the explosion as an act of terror. It could be the handiwork of some lone wolf part of the IS, the police also said. We are also probing the role of the SIMI a senior officer informed.
