'LTTE chief Prabhakaran alive, in good health', claims Indira Gandhi's ex-aide Nedumaran

New Delhi, Feb 13: P Nedumaran, the leader of Tamil Nationalist Movement (TNM) and Ulaka Tamilar Peramaippu (World Tamil Confederation) on Monday made a controversial revelation, saying that Velupillai Prabhakaran, the commander of the defeated terror group, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is alive, safe and in good health. Although the leader didn't reveal LTTE Chief's current location but claimed he will soon make a public appearance.

For the unversed, Velupillai Prabhakaran was a Sri Lankan militant and the founder and leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a separatist Tamil militant organization. He was killed by the Sri Lankan military in May 2009, which effectively ended the Sri Lankan Civil War.

Addressing a press conference in Thanjavur, Nedumaran said that the changing global situation and Sri Lanka's political crisis including the removal of the Rajapaksa government, breathed a new lease of life to the LTTE Chief encouraging him to step outside.

Further, he said that the situation now is conducive for Prabhakaran to achieve a 'Tamil Eelam' because the country was going through an economic crisis.

The LTTE fought to create an independent state called Tamil Eelam for Sri Lankan Tamils, comprising the northern and eastern parts of the country.

"Let me inform you that he (Prabhakaran) is soon going to announce a plan for the liberation of the Tamil race. All the Tamil people of the world should support him together," he said.

"I would like to reveal some truths about LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. I am happy to reveal a truth which would dispel doubts about Prabhakaran. We will like to tell all the Tamil people that LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran is healthy and fine," he added.

He appealed to Tamils in Sri Lanka and the Tamils living in all other parts of the world to stand together and extend him their their full support. Till such time the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was powerful, they did not allow any forces inimical to India to find a toehold in the regions held by them in Sri Lanka, he said.

They not only opposed such forces but also have not received any support from such nations opposed to India, he added.
