Modi endorses Jaitley in Amritsar,welcomes PM's brother into the party
At the event, he welcomed prime minister Manmohan Singh's brother Daljit Singh Kohli, who recently joined BJP. Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was also present at the event, said Kohli knows exactly what Sonia Gandhi has done and yet he has decided to join the BJP.
"This makes us more powerful", said Modi, welcoming Diljit into the party. "We will form a close relationship", he added. Slamming the Congress for bad governance, Modi said, " This is a historic election where the people of India are fighting the elections".
Endorsing the BJP candidate in Amritsar, Arun Jaitley, Modi said, "His intellect, commitment to development, integrity is unmatchable. You cannot find such a gem in public life".
"Sending Arun ji here is a loss for Gujarat but this is about the future of the nation", Modi added.
Modi also vowed to transform Amritsar into a major tourist destination in the state. He also promised to improve the situation along the Punjab-Pakistan border.
