LPG Cylinder Price Hiked By Rs 50

The Centre has raised prices of cooking Gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 50 per unit for both subsidised and general users.

Union Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, households across India will now face an increased cost for cooking gas.

Specifically, the price for a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will rise by Rs 50. This adjustment impacts both subsidised Ujwala beneficiaries, who will see prices move from Rs 500 to Rs 550, and non-Ujwala customers, with rates climbing from Rs 803 to Rs 853. This decision comes amid other fiscal adjustments, including changes to petrol and diesel excise duties.

"This is a step which we will review as we go along. We review these every 2-3 weeks," Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.

"Therefore, the excise duty that you have seen increase is not to go on to the consumer on petrol and diesel. That excise increase is intended to compensate the oil marketing companies for Rs 43,000 crore that they have incurred as a loss on the gas part of it...," he added.
