Almost everyone in the country is talking about the grand Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, graced by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday.
The grandeur at the celebrations left everyone mesmerised and gave enough ammunition to the opposition to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state as it spent several millions of tax payers' money for Diwali in Ayodhya, considered a holy place for Hindus, at a time when UP is facing severe health crisis and law and order problems.
In spite of all the criticism, CM Adityanath put up a brave face and officiated the function in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, a per the Hindu mythology.
A total of 1.71 lakh earthen lamps were lit up at the grand event while a chopper decorated as the mythological "Pushpak Viman" descended on the Ram Katha Park with artistes decked up to resemble Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman.
Among other major attractions at the grand event was a 22-minute laser show, with special sound effects, on Ramayana.
The CM said he wanted to restore the ancient glory of Ayodhya and turn the temple town into Ram Rajya.
"We are making an attempt to take it from negativity to positivity. I am happy all Ayodhya residents cooperated in this endeavour. Ayodhya remained neglected, faced attacks continuously, but it will not remain so. We have launched Rs 133 crore worth schemes here," he added.
Here we bring you a glimpse of the Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya, where 'Lord Ram and Sita' were also present...
