Lok Sabha Poll Predictions For Telangana, Andhra: Congress To Gain Big, BJP To Outshine BRS
The Congress, which registered a thumping victory in the Telangana assembly elections in 2023, is poised to win big in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, India TV-CNX opinion poll said.
The pre-poll survey predicted the Congress to secure nine seats in Telangana, while the BJP is expected to bag five seats. The survey stated that the BRS may secure two seats, with Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) likely to secure just one seat. Telangana has 17 Lok Sabha seats.

The opinion poll claimed that the BJP candidates Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Dharmapuri Arvind, and G Kishan Reddy are leading in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Secunderabad, respectively. It also suggests that AIMIM may hold onto its traditional stronghold, with Owaisi leading in Hyderabad.
In 2019, the TRS had bagged 9 seats, the BJP had won 4 while the Congress and the AIMIM had won 3 and 1 seats, respectively.
It is noted that in the 2023 assembly polls, the Congress emerged victorious in 64 seats in the 119-member assembly and its ally the CPI bagged one seat. The BRS won 39 seats while the BJP ended in third place by winning just 8 seats.
Coming to Andhra Pradesh
The TDP is projected to secure 12 seats, while the BJP is expected to win three seats in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Mohan Reddy's Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is anticipated to claim 10 seats.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the YSR had registered a thumping victory, winning 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats. Whereas the TDP was reduced to three seats with the BJP drawing a blank.
While Andhra will vote on April 19, the single-phase polling will take place in Telangana on May 13.
