Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Samajwadi Party-Congress Seal The Deal, Akhilesh Yadav Makes Big Announcement

Amid political crisis in Bihar, which can be a major setback for the INDIA bloc, a piece of good news came on Saturday from Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party supremo and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav made the big announcement on Twitter, saying that a deal has been finalized with Congress.

Akhilesh Yadav announced that the grand old party will contest on 11 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, while Samajwadi Party and Jayant Choudhary-led Rashtriya Lok Dal will contest on 69 seats together.

Congress To Contest On 11 Seats In UP

"Our cordial alliance with Congress is off to a good start with 11 strong seats... This trend will move forward with the winning equation. 'India' team and 'PDA' strategy will change history," said Akhilesh Yadav in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

However, sources from the Uttar Pradesh Congress declined any such confirmation on seat sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Uttar Pradesh is the largest and most important state comprising 80 Lok Sabha seats. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar collectively play a big role in formation of government at the Centre.

Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had announced to go solo in the upcoming general elections 2024. She also blamed Congress for the delayed process of seat sharing of the INDIA bloc, which forced her to take the harsh decision.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan had also declared that Aam Aadmi Party will contest on all 15 Lok Sabha seats.
