Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Neck And Neck Contest Expected In West Bengal
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, an opinion poll done by the India Today group tried to showcase the Mood of the people of West Bengal. The survey was done for 42 Lok Sabha seats which may create a big impact in the formation of the new government at the Centre. The data was collected after talking to 35,801 voters of various districts of West Bengal between December 15, 2023, to January 28, 2024.
Looking at the current scenario and responses from the people of West Bengal, a neck-and-neck contest is likely to be expected between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress.

The opinion poll predicts 19 seats for the saffron front, while Mamata Banerjee's TMC is likely to win 22 seats, out of 42 assembly seats. The data also showed that Congress will get 1 seat this time.
The opinion poll forecasted that the BJP is likely to retain its 40 percent share of the vote. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress is anticipated to receive 53 percent of the vote, which is four percent less compared to its 2019 performance.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there was a tight contest between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. The BJP managed to secure 18 seats, while the Trinamool retained power with 22 seats.
Notably, at first, Mamata Banerjee had plans to contest elections in alliance with the Congress-led INDIA Bloc but later decided to part ways and go solo on all seats.
