Lok Sabha Election Poll Predictions For Telangana: Can BJP Repeat Its 2019 Performance?

The BJP might receive a major jolt in Telangana in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if we have to go by the latest opinion poll.

The saffron party, which had sprung a surprise in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by winning 5 seats, is predicted to get zero seats in Telangana in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The BJP had won four seats in the last general elections.

The Federal-Puthiyathalaimurai-Apt 2024 Pre-Poll Survey has forecast the ruling Congress to bag 13 out of 17 seats in Telangana. The remaining four are likely to be won by the BRS.

In terms of vote share, the Congress is anticipated to increase to 42.50 per cent, up from 29.79 per cent in 2019. Meanwhile, the BRS' share is projected to decline to 32.62 per cent, down from 44.52 per cent.

More importantly, the BJP's vote share is dipping to 16.78 per cent from 19.65 per cent, the survey claimed.

In the 2023 assembly polls, the Congress emerged victorious in 64 seats in the 119-member assembly and its ally the CPI bagged one seat. The BRS won 39 seats while the BJP at in third place by winning just 8 seats.

The Congress and the CPI's vote share stood at 39.74 per cent followed by the BRS (37.35 per cent) and the BJP(13.90 per cent).

On the other hand, the BJP is predicted to win one seat in Andhra. The incumbent YSRCP is anticipated to claim 13 seats, down from 22 in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the TDP's representation is expected to increase from 3 to 11 seats.

In terms of vote share, the YSRCP is predicted to lead with 32.81 per cent, followed by the TDP with 31.49 per cent, the BJP with 11.70 per cent, and the Congress with 5.72 per cent.
