Lok Sabha Election 2024 Voting Phase 6: Former Cricketers Gambhir, Kapil Dev, Dhoni Cast Votes

The sixth phase of voting in the Lok Sabha election has commenced, covering 58 seats across seven states and one Union Territory (UT). In this phase, voters in Delhi and Haryana are participating in a single phase of voting.

Additionally, polling will be concluded in Haryana, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir today Moreover, in Odisha, both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are being conducted simultaneously.

During this phase in New Delhi on Saturday, several famous sports personalities participated by casting their votes.

Among them is the former India cricketer and a BJP Member of Parliament from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir was spotted casting his vote at a polling booth in the national capital on Saturday.

Despite being in Chennai for the Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders' mentor Gambhir made sure to fly back to Delhi to vote in the sixth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections on Saturday.

After exercising his franchise, Gambhir encouraged others to come out and vote, highlighting that the central government had been actively working towards development over the last decade.

"All I want to say is that everyone should come out and vote in large numbers. This is our power, this is our democracy. The Govt has worked for development in the last 10 years," he said.

Gambhir was later joined by the India World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev.

Dev exercised his right to vote in Haryana during the ongoing Lok Sabha Election. Expressing his satisfaction with India's democratic system, he emphasised the importance of choosing the right representatives for one's constituency.

Dev highlighted the significance of citizen action, stating, "I feel very happy that we are under democracy. The important thing is to pick the right people for your constituency...What we can do is more important than what the government can do."

Adding to the list, former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrives at a polling station in Ranchi today to cast his vote.

By the end of today, elections will be completed in 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats. Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM. Voters who are in line by the closing time will still be allowed to cast their ballots.
