Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 6: JJP candidate-Cum-Singer Rahul Yadav Plants Tree Before Voting
Voting is taking place in 58 seats across seven states and one Union Territory in the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha election today. Delhi and Haryana are voting in a single phase.
People are voting in four seats in Jharkhand, eight each in Bihar and Bengal, seven in Delhi, 10 in Haryana, and 14 in Uttar Pradesh. Also, the final seat in Jammu & Kashmir, Anantnag-Rajouri, is voting today, which was moved from the third phase to the sixth. Additionally, Odisha is electing representatives for 42 assembly constituencies and six Lok Sabha seats.

During this phase, the Jannayak Janta Party (JPP) candidate from Gurgaon, singer Rahul Yadav, known as Fazilpuria, voted after planting trees at the polling station and offering prayers at a temple.
Unlike previous phases where candidates were seen only visiting temples before casting their votes, this marks the first instance where equal importance was given to the environment.
With the Lok Sabha elections facing extreme heat, planting a tree sends a message about environmental consciousness amidst voting.
This initiative resonates with campaigns from the early 2000s, where birthday celebrants were encouraged to plant trees.
By the end of today, the election will be completed in 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats. Polling will also be completed in Haryana, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
In the final phase on June 1, only 57 seats remain. Vote counting and result announcement is scheduled on June 4.
