Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 6: Early Voters Include Jaishankar, Puri In Delhi And Khattar, Saini In Haryana

The sixth phase of voting in the ongoing Lok Sabha election has begun, covering 58 seats across seven states and one Union Territory (UT). Voters in Delhi, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir will complete their polling today. Delhi and Haryana are voting in a single phase, with both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections taking place simultaneously in Odisha.

In this phase, seven seats in Delhi and ten in Haryana are up for election. Key constituencies include New Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi, and Chandni Chowk in the national capital, as well as Karnal, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, and Rohtak in Haryana.

Who Were The First Voters?

Delhi

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was one of the first to cast his vote at his designated polling booth. The Minister expressed his confidence that the voters of Delhi would once again support the Modi government and the vision of a developed India, known as Viksit Bharat.

After voting in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election, Jaishankar proudly showed his inked finger and noted that he was the first male voter at his booth.

"We have just cast our vote, and I was the first male voter in this booth. We want people to come out and cast their votes as this is a decisive moment for the country," he said.

"I believe that the voters in Delhi will once again support Viksit Bharat and the Modi government," he emphasized.

Similarly, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri cast his vote at a polling booth in Delhi on Saturday morning.

"There is a sentiment for '400 paar,' and there is no difficulty in crossing 400 seats since we already have 303 seats. Our seats increase by 10 percent every election, which makes it 330 to 333 seats. If it increases by 15 percent, that makes it 345 seats. We've 37 allies. If even half of them win 2-3 seats," Puri explained to ANI.

Haryana

Former Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar cast his vote on Saturday in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

Khattar said, "I have cast my vote. I appeal to the people to participate in this festival of democracy and also appeal to vote for the BJP party. The Congress candidate is not a challenge for me."

He added, "I will visit all the 9 assembly segments at the end of the day."

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with his wife Suman Saini, cast their votes on Saturday at a polling booth in his native village of Mirzapur in Haryana.

Addressing the media after voting, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, attributing India's recent development to his governance.

"I appeal to the people of Haryana to strengthen democracy by coming out and voting in large numbers. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has entered a new era of development. Today, India is recognised globally and has reached new heights," Saini said.

By the end of today, elections will be completed in 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats. Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM. Voters who are in line by the closing time will still be allowed to cast their ballots.
