Loco Pilot's Quick Action Averts Major Train Accident In Jharkhand
In a timely intervention, a loco pilot operating the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (train number 22812) successfully prevented a potentially catastrophic train accident near Bhojudih railway station in Bokaro, Jharkhand. The incident took place when a tractor collided with the railway gate at the Santhaldih railway crossing, narrowly avoiding a severe mishap.
The loco driver's prompt action led to the application of emergency brakes, bringing the train to a halt just in time. Although the engine and two compartments of the train made contact with the tractor's cart before coming to a complete stop, a major accident was averted, according to The Times Of India.

The incident took place on Tuesday at approximately 5 pm, causing a delay of 45 minutes in the train's scheduled arrival time, as confirmed by a railway official. The tractor had become stuck between the railway track and the closing gate, as reported by news agency PTI.
Manish Kumar, DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) of Adra Division, South Eastern Railway, stated, "A tractor crashed into the railway gate when it was closing at the Santhaldih railway crossing of the Bhojudih station in Bokaro district. However, the driver of the train applied the brakes and the train stopped, averting any major accident," as quoted by PTI. The gateman responsible for operating the railway gate has been suspended, while the tractor has been seized. A First Information Report (FIR) has also been lodged against the tractor driver, who fled the scene.
The incident occurred just days after a devastating train accident at the Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district, Odisha. The collision involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train carrying iron, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 278 lives and leaving over 1,100 passengers injured. The recent incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of prompt action and adherence to safety protocols in the railway sector.
