Live Mainpuri Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Dimple Yadav's Bicycle To Win Comfortably, Says Exit Polls

Mainpuri, a stronghold for the Samajwadi Party (SP), is likely to be bagged by SP one more time, says Exit poll results. After the death of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, his daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, won the by-election and INDIA bloc has again made her its candidate.

Mainpuri is known as a safe seat for SP. Mulayam Singh won the seat in 2009, 2014 and 2019.

According to 2019 data of the Election Commission of India, Mainpuri constituency has over 1,723,236 registered voters

The constituency includes five assembly segments: Mainpuri, Bhongaon, Kishni (SC), Karhal, and Jaswantnagar. Jaswantnagar is in Etawah, while the others are in Mainpuri district.

According to the 2011 Census, Mainpuri district had a population of 1,868,529, with a sex ratio of 876 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 78.26%. The area is mostly rural, with 15.44% living in urban areas. Scheduled Castes make up 19.71% of the population. About 35% of the population belongs to the Yadav caste, with Shakya and Thakurs also being significant groups. Hindus comprise 93.48% of the population, and Muslims 5.39%.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, the party's founder, was first elected here in 1996 and became the Defense Minister. He later vacated the seat for his ally Balram Singh Yadav in 1997 but reclaimed it in 2004. Since then, only members of the Yadav family have won this seat.
