Live Kannauj Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Akhilesh Yadav Likely To Register Comfortable Victory

Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, from where Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is contesting this time. Akhilesh is INDIA bloc's prominent face in Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party is the prominent opposition for BJP in the state.

According to the exit poll survey, Akhilsh Yadav will register a comfortable victory in Kannauj. The constituency has over 1,874,824 registered voters, as per Election Commission's 2019 data.

The constituency includes the assembly segments of Chhibramau, Tirwa, Kannauj (SC), Bidhuna, and Rasulabad (SC), covering parts of Auraiya, Kannauj, and Kanpur Dehat.

According to the 2011 Census, Kannauj district has an average sex ratio of 879 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 72.7%.

The area is predominantly rural, with 83% of the population living in villages. Scheduled Castes make up about 18.7% of the population, Hindus constitute 83.05%, and Muslims 16.54%.

Kannauj is famous for its perfume industry, earning it the title "India's Perfume Capital." It has over 200 perfume distilleries and is known for its traditional Kannauj Perfume, scents, rose water, and tobacco. The name Kannauj is derived from the ancient Kanyakubja.
