List of Bank Holidays: Government and Private Banks To Remain Closed In July On These Dates
In July 2025, banks across India will observe several holidays. These include national holidays, regional observances, and the usual second and fourth Saturdays. Muharram, marking the Islamic New Year, is a significant holiday on July 6. However, this date might shift to July 7 depending on the moon sighting. On this day, schools, banks, government offices, and stock markets will remain closed.
Regional Bank Holidays
Different states in India have their own specific holidays in July 2025. For instance, Meghalaya celebrates Behdingkhlam on July 3. Tripura observes Kharchi Puja on the same day. Mizoram marks MHIP Day on July 6. Meanwhile, Manipur and Odisha celebrate Ratha Yatra on July 8. Punjab observes Jhulan Purnima also on July 8.

In Sikkim, Bhanu Jayanti is celebrated on July 13. On July 17, U Tirot Sing Day is observed in Meghalaya. The same day sees another observance of Muharram in Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan. Tripura celebrates Ker Puja on July 19.
State-Specific Observances
Telangana has Bonalu celebrations starting on July 21 and continuing with a second day on July 29. Kerala observes Karkidaka Vavu (Vavu Bali) on July 25. Haryana celebrates Haryali Teej on July 27. Finally, Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day is marked in Punjab and Haryana on July 31.
Throughout India in July 2025, there are a total of thirteen days when banks will be closed due to various holidays. This includes national holidays like Muharram and regional ones such as Kharchi Puja in Tripura or Bonalu in Telangana.
Bank Closures in Delhi
In Delhi specifically, banks will not operate on several days: Muharram (July 6), along with the second and fourth Saturdays (July 12 and 26). Despite these closures, many banking services remain accessible online or through ATMs.
The second and fourth Saturdays of each month are regular bank holidays across all states in India. In July 2025, these fall on the 12th and the 26th.
Digital Banking Services
Even when banks are closed for holidays or weekends, digital banking services such as UPI transactions, IMPS transfers, ATMs access, and cheque drop boxes continue to function normally across India.
