Linking Aadhaar with mobile: Number won’t be disconnected
For those who are abroad, the DoT is working on alternatives, she further added.
Mobiles not linked with Aadhaar will not be disconnected the Department of Telecommunication has said. This is in contrast to what the Centre had told the Supreme Court.

The Centre had said that the last date for linking Aadhaar with mobile is December 6. However the DoT has said that it would first wait for the order of the Supreme Court.
DoT Secretary Aruna Sundararajan told reporters in Delhi that the DoT would wait for the order of the SC on Aadhaar linking. At present, there is no plan to disconnect mobile numbers for not linking with the UIDAI number, she said.
For those who are abroad, the DoT is working on alternatives, she further added.
Telecom minister Manoj Sinha said the government's aim is to provide mobile connection and not disconnection. However, we only want to prevent any misuse of the system, he added.
