LG Vinai Saxena Drops A Hint For President's Rule In Delhi, Says Won't Let Delhi Govt Run From Jail

Taking cognizance of the political turmoil and threat of collapse of governance that is looming over Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said that a government can not be run in jail. "I can assure the people of Delhi that the govt will not run from jail," LG Saxena said at Times Now Summit 2024.

Soon after LG's statement, speculations of the imposition of the President's Rule in Delhi started doing around. BJP workers and supporters also protested near the Aam Aadmi Party's ITO office on Wednesday to demand Chief Minister Kejriwal's resignation and implementation of the President's rule.

However, the AAP is also hitting the streets claiming that Arvind Kejriwal's arrest is fabricated and a conspiracy to stop the INDIA alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 done by BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the summit, Saxena compared Delhi with other major cities, stating National Capital lagged due to "legacy issues". However, he praised the Modi government for continuous and concrete efforts made in the last two years under the banner of Viksit Bharat to make Delhi a "truly global and inclusive destination".

LG Saxena also shared his experience of working with the Aam Aadmi Party Government, adding he has been facing a lot of difficulties since he assumed the LG's chair nearly two years ago.

"Since childhood, we've all heard the proverb, 'lohe ke chane chabana', but I truly understood its meaning when I began working as lieutenant governor of Delhi. Countless forces stand against you to obstruct good work," Saxena said.

He also talked about growing business opportunities and streamlining business and licensing processes in Delhi. "A major reform in the old licensing regime has been introduced with a modified unified portal for eating and boarding and lodging establishments in Delhi. The licences that were earlier taking three years to be issued can now be obtained in just 49 days," LG said.
