Left not impressed with PM Modi's message, wants action against RSS
New Delhi, Oct 31: Left parties were today not impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for ensuring "unity, peace and harmony", saying he should know that these values are being threatened by the Sangh Parivar and should crack a whip on them.
The communist outfits also questioned the 'Run For Unity' organised by the government for Sardar Patel and reminded the BJP-led dispensation about the ban imposed by the then Home Minister on RSS in the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.

"The Prime Minister should not act as Pradhan Pracharark (chief preacher) of RSS but take action against those threatening the values," Raja said.
He was reacting to remarks made by Modi earlier in the day that "unity, peace and harmony" are the basis for the country's progress. He also asked people to take forward Patel's message that the nation can sacrifice anything for its unity.
Questioning the 'Run For Unity', Raja said Modi should rather "speak up and assure action" to the nation in the backdrop of intolerance incidents like Dadri lynching.
CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury shared online pages of late historian DR Goyal's book 'Rashtriya Sawayamsevak Sangh' which refers to Patel banning the RSS.
"Sardar Patel took one big step to protect unity and integrity of India. He banned the RSS. See 'RSS' by D R Goyal," Yechury said on micro-blogging site twitter.
Invoking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's work for national integration, the Prime Minister said, "Unity is our biggest strength...We have to move forward with the mantra of unity, peace and harmony."
