Landmine blast in Bijapur kills 4 CRPF jawans

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), Nov 27: A landmine blast in Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) claimed the lives of 4 CRPF jawans at 9:30 am today.

Naxals ambushed a road opening party by the security official in the Naxal-hit Bijapur area. "This happened between the forest areas of Murkinar and Cheramungi village in Modakpal area," said R K Vij, Additional Director General of Police (Naxal Operations).

The ADG further informed that the jawans were clearing the Murkinar-Cheramungi roadfor some civic action programme. They were closing in to their destination when the Naxals opened fire, leading to the death of 4 troopers out of 168 strong batallion.

Four others have been injured too, who were rushed to the hospital. While the bodies of the dead are being taken out of the jungle, an intense combing operation has been launched in the region to nab the culprits.
