Maharashtra Government Introduces Rs 200 Fee for Land Measurement to Aid Farmers
The Maharashtra government has set a fee of Rs 200 for land measurement, which will greatly assist farmers and their families in dividing and distributing land. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that this decision aims to simplify the land partition process and lessen financial burdens on farming families.

Previously, the fee was determined by orders from the Settlement Commissioner, leading to complaints about high costs. After receiving feedback from farmers, the government decided to fix the fee at Rs 200. This change is expected to make the legal land partition process more accessible to many farming families across the state.
Land Partition Process Simplified
Bawankule explained that once a land partition was recorded in the 7/12 land title document, measuring subdivided plots was complicated. Now, this process is straightforward and affordable. The new system will benefit numerous farming families by making land partitioning simpler and faster.
The decision was finalised during a meeting with the Settlement Commissioner and Director of Land Acquisition. The service is now available to all citizens, ensuring that everyone can access affordable land measurement services.
Efficient and Transparent System
Bawankule highlighted that all measurements will be completed within 90 days under the new system. The 7/12 land title document and maps will be consistent, with boundaries, areas, and limits clearly recorded to prevent disputes. This ensures a transparent and efficient process for all involved.
The minister noted that this change would accelerate the partition process in joint families. By reducing costs and simplifying procedures, the government aims to support farmers in managing their land more effectively.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to addressing farmers' concerns and improving their livelihoods through practical solutions. By implementing these changes, Maharashtra hopes to ease the challenges faced by farming communities in land management.
