Sharad, Ajit Pawar illegally grabbed land in Baramati, alleges RTI activist

New Delhi, June 16: Veteran NCP leader Sharad Pawar is in deep trouble. Reportedly, the Pawars including Sharad Pawar and his nephew former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have been accused of illegally usurping land in their home town Baramati.

This has been accused by a Pune RTI activist Ravindra Barhate. He alleged that Pawars transferred 73 acres of government land to their family trust by violating various laws.

The misdeeds which brought massive loss to the exchequer were done in connivance with Pune collector Saurabh Rao, he further alleged.

Reportedly, the land was originally allotted to Krishi Udyog Mul Shikshan Sanstha which was later transferred to Vidya Pratisthan, a trust run by Pawars.

By misusing power when Ajit Pawar became the president of the s Vidya Pratisthan in 2006 , Pawars transferred the land on their name violating Bombay Public Trusts Act (BPTA), alleges activist.

"For transferring the land to their own trust, Ajit Pawar was first made chairman of Krushi Udyog Mool Shikshan Sansthan after the then chairman of trust Padmatai Siddhya abruptly resigned from the post in 2005. But the ‘change report' was rejected by the assistant charity commissioner K.R.P. Mukkawar for not following due procedures on November 20, 2014," Barhate said to Asian age.

Reportedly, the activist may file criminal petitions against Pawars and and various government officials including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for not taking up matter seriously.

However, official statements from Vidya Pratishthan said that there were no violations of any rule and regulations in transferring land.

"The process of taking the Charity Commissioner's permission is in progress," statement said.
