Lalu Yadav's Daughter Rohini Acharya Says Family Abused Her for Giving "Dirty Kidney" to Father

The family dispute involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has intensified after his daughter Rohini Acharya went public with emotional allegations against her relatives.

Rohini, who donated one of her kidneys to her father in 2022, has stated that she was insulted, mistreated, and accused of using the donation for political benefit.

Accusation of "dirty kidney" and ticket deal

According to Rohini, some family members accused her of giving a "dirty kidney" to her father and obtaining an election ticket in exchange for it. The 46 year old announced her formal exit from politics and declared that she had cut ties with her family. Her move followed another internal crisis when her elder brother Tej Pratap left the RJD and launched his own outfit which could not make an electoral impact in the Bihar polls.

In her emotional statement, she said, "Yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in." Rohini had contested from Saran in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls but was defeated.

She calls it a "sin" to have saved her father

Rohini also shared how she was blamed for prioritising her father over her own household responsibilities. She wrote, "For me, it became a huge sin that I didn't look after my family, my three children, didn't take permission from my husband or my in-laws when donating the kidney... I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it's been called dirty... May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini."

Allegations of humiliation and physical threat

In another social media post, she accused family members of inflicting verbal abuse and threatening her. She wrote that a slipper was raised at her and that she had to leave her parents in tears. "I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult," she said. She further added, "Yesterday, a daughter, out of compulsion, left behind her crying parents and sisters and came away; they tore me away from my maternal home... They left me orphaned... May none of you ever walk my path, may no family ever have a daughter-sister like Rohini."

Blamed for election defeat

Rohini took responsibility for the RJD's defeat and said that she decided to detach herself from family and politics based on suggestions from senior RJD leaders Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Khan. According to sources, the allegations were triggered by a heated argument with her younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, who reportedly blamed her for the loss. It has also been alleged that he was the person who raised the slipper at her. RJD leaders have not yet made any public comment on the matter.
