Lalu Yadav's Bold Offer To Nitish Kumar Sets Political Circles Abuzz!
The political landscape in Bihar has been stirred yet again as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav extended an open invitation to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for a possible realignment.
However, the proposal has been downplayed by both Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, fueling discussions about Bihar's political future.

Nitish Kumar's Cryptic Response
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, when asked about Lalu Yadav's remarks during an interaction with the media at Raj Bhawan, offered a brief yet cryptic reply. "Kya bol rahe hain [What are you saying]," he remarked, avoiding a direct comment. The interaction followed the swearing-in ceremony of Bihar's new governor, Arif Mohammed Khan.
Kumar's political history with the RJD is significant. In 2015, he aligned with the RJD-Congress coalition to form a government but ended the partnership in 2017. The two sides reunited briefly in August 2022, only for Kumar to later join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Lalu Yadav's Olive Branch
In an interview earlier this week, Lalu Yadav indicated his willingness to forgive Kumar for past political betrayals if he decided to rejoin the INDIA bloc.
"Our doors are always open for Nitish Kumar," Lalu Yadav said. "If he chooses to come back, we will welcome him and work together."
RJD MLA Bhai Birendra echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that in politics, alliances are fluid and ever-changing.
Tejashwi Yadav Dismisses Speculation
Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Yadav's son and the Leader of Opposition, dismissed his father's remarks as a response to persistent media queries. He reiterated that there is no chance of a reunion with JD(U) under Kumar's leadership.
"We've made our stance clear-there will be no realignment," Tejashwi stated. "The people of Bihar will oust the NDA government in the 2025 elections and bring in a new RJD-led alliance."
BJP and JD(U) Rubbish Rumors
Leaders from both the BJP and JD(U) have dismissed the speculation of a political realignment.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, a senior JD(U) leader, affirmed the strength of the NDA alliance. "Lalu ji can say whatever he wants, but the NDA remains united and strong," he said.
Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary described Lalu Yadav's remarks as wishful thinking, asserting that the NDA is confident of retaining power in the upcoming state elections.
Internal Differences Within RJD?
JD(U) leaders have also pointed to apparent differences between Lalu Yadav and his son, Tejashwi. JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar noted, "Lalu's statement was contradicted by his son, showing a lack of coordination within the RJD leadership."
Minister Maheshwar Hazari, however, acknowledged that in politics, "there are no permanent friends or enemies," suggesting that unexpected alliances cannot be entirely ruled out.
Outlook for 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections
As the state gears up for elections later this year, the speculation surrounding Lalu Yadav's offer has added another layer of intrigue. With both the RJD and NDA making strong assertions about their prospects, Bihar's political future remains as unpredictable as ever.
