Lalu Prasad Yadav Makes Sexist Comment Targeted At Nitish Kumar's Women's Initiative

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has stirred a political storm by making a sexist comment about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's upcoming Mahila Samvad Yatra. The initiative, set to launch on December 15, aims to engage women across Bihar, address their concerns, and strengthen their role in governance while reviewing the government's 7-Resolves programme.

According to a report by India Today, Lalu Yadav made an objectionable remark, alleging the initiative was an excuse to "letch at women."

The Janata Dal (United) responded sharply to Lalu Yadav's remark. Senior JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan accused Yadav of having a "deplorable mindset" and added, "Lalu must have forgotten how the people of Bihar endured him in the past. His comments reveal his true character."

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary called the comment "unfortunate" and suggested that Yadav's health may be impacting his judgment. "Laluji is in the last stages of his life and appears unable to understand the implications of his words," Chaudhary remarked.

Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that Yadav's mental state might require medical attention.

Even the RJD's ally in the INDIA bloc, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, distanced itself from Yadav's remark. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi described the comment as "sexist" and urged Lalu Yadav's family to intervene. "Such statements are unbecoming, and even his family members might advise him to refrain from making such remarks," Chaturvedi said.
