Lakhimpur gangrape victim succumbs to injuries, no action yet

The incident happened on Sunday when she was on her way to fetch her daughter from school. Being the lone woman in the auto, the men gangraped her and assaulted her brutally with iron rods and gouging her eyes before flinging her out of the auto.
Outraged by the gruesome incident, the people of Lakhimpur rose up to fight for justice for the woman, demanding fast-track action by the police. "It is been three days now and no one is doing anything," said one of the residents.
Although the administration is still mulling over the post-mortem reports, the people of the town are up for a ferocious battle with the administration.
Activists compare it with the Nirbhaya case, which had similar traits of animosity.
