UP Lab Technician Arrested for Exploiting Nurse with False Marriage Promise
A 59-year-old man, working as a laboratory technician in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi health department, was arrested on Friday. He is accused of raping a nurse over 21 years under the false promise of marriage, according to police.

The case involves a 36-year-old nurse who filed a petition against Chintamani Sharma in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sabiha Khatoon. Following the petition, the CJM ordered police to register a case against Sharma on Thursday.
Accusations and Arrest
A case was subsequently lodged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape), 427 (mischief), and 323 (causing hurt) at the Suryava police station. Sharma was arrested from Varanasi on Friday.
Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan stated that Sharma lived in the same apartment as the complainant. He befriended her when she was a 15-year-old student living with her family in Varanasi.
Allegations of Long-term Exploitation
Sharma allegedly raped her by threatening her and continued to have physical relations with her over time. He promised to marry her but secretly married someone else while continuing to deceive her, Katyayan added.
After completing her studies, the complainant became a contract nurse. She was posted at a Community Health Centre and given a quarter. Sharma, who was posted in Varanasi, would visit Bhadohi and continue his physical relationship with her.
When the nurse mentioned marriage, he allegedly abused her, beat her, and vandalised her house, according to SP Katyayan. Sharma was arrested from his Varanasi apartment on Friday.
The nurse has been sent for a medical examination, and her written statement will soon be recorded in court, Katyayan added.
