Kuwait Fire: PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Death Of 49, Assures Support To Victims

Taking cognizance of the saddening Kuwait fire incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed condolences over the death of 49 people. PM Modi also expressed concern over the misshaping and extended full support to people, especially Indians who got injured in the shocking incident.

Sharing his thoughts on the micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi said "The fire mishap in Kuwait City is saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is closely monitoring the situation and working with the authorities there to assist the affected".

He also highlighted that Indian authorities are on their toes, in touch with the victims, and providing every possible help needed.

A high-level meeting to review the situation in Kuwait was also held at the Prime Minister's residence today evening.

Earlier today, India Ambassador to Kuwait Adarsh Swaika visited the hospital to meet the victims and the building where the incident took place.

According to the Embassy sources, at least 30 Indians were injured in the fire incident.

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also expressed deep concern over the incident terming it as shocking and assured full assistance to those killed or injured in the tragic fire incident.

"Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait city. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and over 50 have been hospitalized. Our Ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information. Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. Wish early and full recovery to those who have been injured. Our Embassy will render the fullest assistance to all concerned in this regard," said Jaishankar.

A helpline number +965-65505246 has also been shared by Indian authorities in Kuwait for the help of people whose relatives are living in Kuwait.
