Kumaraswamy’s headache: Convincing brother Revanna to give up either PWD or energy

The deal was sealed between the Congress and JD(S) over the allocation of portfolios. While there is some amount of dissent within the Congress after its chief Rahul Gandhi gave in easily, there is also a section within the JD(S) which is not happy.

The problem stems from the fact that Deve Gowda's son, H D Revanna wants both PWD and energy. This has led to fingers being pointed at Gowda's son. Some MLAs feel that the sons of Deve Gowda are getting to keep important portfolios, while the rest are being sidelined.

Kumaraswamy who is the Chief Minister in all probability would keep the finance portfolio. Revanna on the other hand is hell bent upon both PWD and energy. In fact he was the one who bargained hard with the Congress for the energy portfolio much to the dismay of D K Shivakumar who held this ministry under Siddaramaiah. He had in fact remarked that Revanna is a 'big' man.

Kumaraswamy now finds himself in a spot of bother with his brother demanding two key portfolios. He has not been able to convince Revanna to give up either of the portfolios.
The JD(S) would also have trouble convincing G T Deve Gowda to take up the cooperation ministry. He had made it clear that he does not want this portfolio. He also said that he would refuse it, if offered.

The JD(S) is also facing trouble in accommodating seven time MLA, Basavaraj Horatti. While the JD(S) is keen on making him the speaker of the legislative council, he clearly stated that he is in the race for a post of minister. He too said that he would not accept the role of speaker at any cost.

These are just the beginning of the worries for Kumaraswamy who hard bargained for portfolios with the Congress. There is a considerable amount of resentment that Gowda's sons are eyeing top portfolios. His first challenge would however be to convince his brother to either give up PWD or energy. For now, it appears that Revanna is in no mood to budge from his stance.
