Kumaraswamy’s Cabinet is Vokkaliga heavy

The newly sworn in H D Kumaraswamy cabinet has 8 Vokkaligas, the community the chief minister belongs to. If one were to include the CM too then there are 9 Vokkaligas in the ministry.

The total number of Lingayats is 4 while Muslims and Christians have got 2 and 1 portfolio each.

The JD(S) including the CM has inducted 7 Vokkaligas while the Congress has 2. There is one Vokkaligas Reddy in the Congress list. Both parties have inducted 2 Lingayats each.

The Congress has inducted, two Muslims and 1 Christian. The party has also given berths each to an ST, Brahmin, Uppara, Kuruba and Ediga. The JD(S) on the other hand has inducted one Kuruba and a Dalit.
