Kumaraswamy Plays Down Reports Of An Alliance In Karnataka
There has been a lot of buzz around the JD(S) as many analysts and as the exit polls suggested the party would play kingmaker.
Just a few hours before counting began in the state, JD(S) chief, H D Kumaraswamy played down rumours that his party was in touch with either the Congress and BJP.
In Karnataka, if both Congress and BJP fall short of the majority mark of 113, the parties would need the support of the JD(S) to form the government.

Kumaraswamy was guarded in his response and said ahead of the counting that the scenario would become clear in the next 2 to 3 hours.
“Im a small party. There is no demand for me. I am hoping for a good development. The exit polls show that the two national parties will score in a big way. The exit polls have given 30 to 32 seats for the JD(S),” Kumaraswamy said.
His comments come just a day after he had said that he is ready for an alliance with either the BJP or Congress. He said that the alliance would depend on whichever party agreed to his list of conditions, main among which he returned as chief minister with a free hand.
Both the Congress and BJP rebutted the remarks by Kumaraswamy and said neither are in touch with him. Both parties said that they would not need Kumaraswamy
