Kulgam Clash: Four Terrorists Killed, Two Soldiers Martyred in J-K
At least four terrorists were killed and two soldiers lost their lives in twin encounters in Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday, according to officials. The clashes occurred in Frisal Chinnigam and Modergam areas of the south Kashmir district.

The officials reported that contact with the terrorists was made during a cordon and search operation in Frisal Chinnigam. In the ensuing exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed, and their bodies have been sighted. However, due to ongoing firing, the bodies could not be retrieved yet.
Drone Footage Confirms Casualties
Drone footage from the encounter site confirmed the presence of four bodies. Despite this, retrieval efforts have been hampered by continuous firing. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdhi, visited the site and stated that the operation would continue until it is fully concluded.
Earlier in Modergam village, a gunfight erupted after security forces initiated a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence about terrorist presence. Both operations are ongoing with security forces maintaining a tight cordon around the respective areas.
Significant Achievement for Security Forces
IGP Birdhi highlighted that the encounter site is located in the interior parts of the district, away from the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. He emphasised that tracking terrorist movements and eliminating them is a significant achievement for the security forces.
"Some bodies of terrorists have been sighted, but the encounter has not concluded yet," IGP Birdhi told reporters. He reiterated that J-K Police and security forces are vigilant in monitoring terrorist activities.
The officials added that two soldiers lost their lives while battling the terrorists during these encounters. The security forces have maintained a tight cordon around both areas to ensure no escape routes for any remaining terrorists.
The ongoing operations reflect the continuous efforts by security forces to combat terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The successful elimination of these terrorists marks a critical step in ensuring regional safety and stability.
