Krishna Pushkaralu gets Telangana busy

Hyderabad, Aug 9: The Krishna river festival-Krishna Pushkaralu has gotten Telangana busy. While the police here is busy chalking out the traffic routes, which are likely to be clogged during the 12 days of celebration, Indian railways has considered running special trains for the festival.

The festival occurs once in 12 years and is observed for a period of 12 days from the time when Jupiter enters into the Kanya (Virgo) rasi. This year, it will be celebrated between 12 August 2016 and 23 August 2016.

The celebrations include remembering the ancestors, spiritual discourses, devotional music and cultural programs.

Meanwhile, Mahbubnagar district SP Rema Rjeshwari said that all the 52 ghats will be under CCTV surveillance and 300 cameras will be installed. Interceptor teams will be organised to manage the crowd.

The district police is planning to deploy 6,720 personnel at the ghats. Of these, 3,920 personnel will be brought from other districts.

Also, a tough traffic management plan is in place that will consider both necessity and safety. Officials say that there will be no traffic restrictions on vehicles during the festival. Superintendent of police M. Ravi Prakash said the vehicles which are carrying out essential commodities and perishable goods will be given top priority under the plan.
