Konda Surekha Under Fire For Linking Naga Chaitanya-Samantha Divorce To KTR

Telangana Minister Konda Surekha's scandalous and derogatory comments regarding the divorce between popular Telugu actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have sparked widespread outrage.

The minister's insensitive remarks went viral, drawing flak from various quarters, including the Telugu film industry, fans, and even political opposition leaders.

In a sharp critique of KT Rama Rao, son of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Konda Surekha accused him of being responsible for many actresses leaving the film industry and marrying early. She alleged that Rama Rao blackmailed film personalities after getting them addicted to drugs, according to reports. Reports further said that Surekha expressed her suspicion that the BRS leader was behind a series of offensive posts targeting her.

Naga Chaitanya, who had previously maintained a dignified silence about the matter, finally responded to the minister's comments, giving a fitting retort.

Taking to Instagram, Naga Chaitanya shared a heartfelt note, calling divorce one of the most painful decisions one can make. He explained that the decision was made after careful consideration and was a mutual choice between him and Samantha. "It was a decision made in peace, owing to our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults," Chay stated.

In a sharp response to Konda Surekha, Naga Chaitanya labeled the minister's claims as "false, ridiculous, and unacceptable." He emphasized that women deserve respect and support, adding, "Exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for media headlines is shameful."

The Telugu film industry and many public figures rallied in support of the Akkineni family. Chay's younger brother, Akhil Akkineni, also took to social media platform X to defend his family. Retweeting his mother Amala Akkineni's post, Akhil wrote, "I support every word my mother said. I'm sorry you have to address this demonic nonsense, but sometimes we have no choice but to deal with such sociopaths."

The scandal has led to widespread criticism of Konda Surekha, with many accusing her of using the personal issues of celebrities for political gain and media attention. The Akkineni family has received overwhelming support from the public and the Telugu film fraternity, standing united against the minister's distasteful remarks.

Meanwhile, Konda Surekha, who recently stirred controversy by claiming that senior Bharat Raksha Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) was responsible for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya, has since retracted her statement. Read here

Surekha clarified that her remarks were intended to challenge a leader's (KTR) demeaning attitude toward women, not to offend Samantha.
