Kolkata: Student Gang Raped In Law College; Lawyer, 2 Others Arrested
Even as RG Kar Medical College rape case is fresh in the minds of people, a similar case has come to light from West Bengal. This time, a female student has been in Kasba, an upscale locality in South Kolkata.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on June 25 between 7.30 pm and 10.50 pm, according to a report in The Telegraph. However, three people have been arrested in connection with the case on the same night.

It is reported that two people involved in the heinous incident are students belonging to the same college, while the third accused is a former student, who is a frequent visitor to the college and practising law in the Alipore court.
The primary accused has been identified as Manojit Mishra. He is reportedly associated with the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMC Student Council) organization. All three accused, including Mishra, were presented today before the Alipore Court. The judge has ordered a four-day police custody for them.
Earlier, the cops had refused to reveal the names of the accused and referred to them as accused "J", accused "M" and accused "P."
3 Accused Arrested
The cops arrested the two college students from the Talbagan area following a complaint near a park crossing. Once the interrogation started, the third accused was nabbed.
"We have arrested all the accused. The main accused is the ex-student, and the two others were there. Investigation is on whether the other two were also involved," a police officer told the publication.
After being produced in a city court, the accused were taken to the Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital for medical examination. "The main accused had called the victim to the campus on Wednesday evening. On her arrival, the main accused and his accomplices took her to a room where she was raped," a police officer claims.
The authorities have seized the cell phones of all three and sent them for forensic examination.
The incident comes less than a year after a post-graduate trainee at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The 31-year-old female postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered in a college building. Her body was found in a seminar room on campus.
