Kolkata Metro to Run Special Late-Night Services for IPL 2025 Fans After Eden Gardens Match
Kolkata Metro is stepping up to ensure a smooth ride home for cricket fans after the IPL 2025 opening match at Eden Gardens on March 22. Responding to a request from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on behalf of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), special late-night Metro services will be available on the Blue Line and Green Line-2.
Extra Metro Services for Cricket Enthusiasts

The initiative is designed to help fans traveling from Kolkata and its surrounding areas reach home conveniently after the high-energy match. Special booking counters at Old Esplanade and New Esplanade Metro stations will remain open during this period for the sale of Smart Cards, Tokens, and Paper-Based QR Tickets. A surcharge of ₹10 per ticket will be added to the regular fare for these late-night services.
Special Blue Line Services
- Towards Dakshineswar (UP direction):
- Train Spl.1 departs from Esplanade at 12:15 AM, reaching Dakshineswar at 12:48 AM.
- Towards Kavi Subhas (DN direction):
- Train Spl.2 departs from Esplanade at 12:15 AM, reaching Kavi Subhas at 12:48 AM.
- Both trains will stop at all stations along their respective routes.
Special Green Line-2 Service
- Towards Howrah Maidan:
- Train Spl.1 departs from Esplanade at 12:15 AM, reaching Howrah Maidan at 12:23 AM.
Kolkata Metro's special services aim to make the post-match commute smoother and hassle-free for all IPL fans. So, if you're heading to Eden Gardens to cheer for KKR, rest assured that getting back home late at night won't be a problem!
