Kolkata: Former RG Kar Medical College Principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh Arrested By CBI

In a significant development on Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Dr. Ghosh, who had previously held a key position at one of Kolkata's prominent medical institutions, is now under scrutiny by the federal investigative agency. The reasons behind his arrest and the specifics of the charges are yet to be fully disclosed, but the development has already drawn considerable attention. The FIR, filed under the direction of the Calcutta High Court, also names three Kolkata-based private entities: Ma Tara Traders, Eshan Cafe, and Khama Louha. These entities are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the financial discrepancies at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier, on August 25, the CBI conducted a day-long search at Ghosh's residence in Beliaghata, Kolkata, as part of its broader corruption probe. Additionally, the agency is investigating a separate case involving the rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at the hospital's seminar hall on August 9.

The Enforcement Directorate has also initiated a money laundering investigation to examine the financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during Ghosh's administration.

In response to these developments, the Indian Medical Association has recently suspended Dr. Sandip Ghosh's membership. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover further details regarding these serious allegations.
